Project part 2a: Establishing Requirements (Gathering Requirements - Task Analysis)
Gathering Requirements - Task Analysis
INTRODUCTION
Our group, UnderBlue aims to develop a new website that enhances the existing website, which is The Ocean Foundation website. The new website can motivate people to join the activity organized by the organization to protect the marine. Three types of users that our new website focuses on are Ocean lovers, Donator and General Public. In order to design a new website, we looked for some similar websites which is The Ocean Foundation website to compare, and we discovered that there are a few issues that need to be fixed in our new system, including limited donor communication and interaction, insufficient visual material, and limited transparency and impact assessment.
There are three main tasks that we can observe during the testing process in
(i) Attempt to find a communication channel on the website
This task requires the users to find a communication channel to interact with other users. The user needs to open the website, browse it and try to find a place to leave their comments or ideas on the website.
(ii) Reading the Website’s Content
This task requires users to read the website’s content. The user needs to open the website, then find an interesting topic, and read the content.
(iii) Check Usage of Funds
In this task, users are required to check the usage of funds collected through donations. The user must view the annual report to check if there is detailed information about the contribution of funds in ocean conservation projects.

Findings from the HTAs for Task 1 (Attempt to find a communication channel on the websiteAttempt to find a communication channel on the website)
- The website is user friendly and easy to accesses.
- Ocean lovers, Donator and the General Public are browsing the website and trying to find a place to leave their comments or ideas.
- The General Public has found a potential place to leave his comment but there is not a proper place to leave his comment and allow other users to view.
- The website can solve this problem by implementing a forum or communication channel for the view to write down their opinion or problem.
- Besides, we found that there is no alternative communication method such as email, contact form or contact information.
- By addressing these issues, the organization can improve the website by adding the contact information to the bottom of the webpage.

Findings from the HTAs for Task 2 (Reading the website’s Content)
- Ocean Lover- Cheryl feels boring when browsing the website.
- Lack of picture cause users uninterested about the topic.
- Include more images, infographics, and multimedia content.
- Make the layout more dynamic and engaging to increase user engagement.
- Add interactive elements to keep users interested.
- A well-designed website with relevant visuals and interactive elements creates a positive impression, making users more likely to trust and value the content.
- Enhanced User Experience by making the website more enjoyable to navigate, reducing feelings of boredom.

Diagram Presentation (User 3)
Findings from the HTAs for Task 3 (Check Usage of Funds)
- Ocean lover fails to find a detailed description of the usage of funds on the Ocean Foundation website.
- Donator and general public feel that the annual report was too general and does not give detailed information such as the investments made by the organization and the usage of funds for what projects.
- The problem can be solved by adding a donation timeline that shows which project uses the funds and shows the progress of the project by attaching some pictures and videos of the project progress.
- A clear description of the usage of funds will assure the users that the funds are used to contribute to ocean conservation activities.
- Besides, users will be encouraged to help in conserving the ocean by donating to the organization.
DESIGN REQUIREMENT
Based on the analysis of user interactions with The Ocean Foundation’s platform, a few design requirements have been identified to improve usability, functionality, and efficiency:
- Provide an easily accessible communication channel on the homepage to ensure users can exchange experiences or doubts with others.
- Increase the use of images, infographics, and multimedia elements to make the content more engaging and assist users’ understanding of the information’s topics.
- Implement an “Impact Visualization-equipped Donation Timeline” to ensure that financial information is detailed and transparent presented as every phase of the conservation progress and financial usage is tracked on the timeline in the system.
By exploring issues that arise during user interactions, we aim to significantly enhance the overall user experience of The Ocean Foundation's platform by creating a new website, “Ocean Watch” that contains these design requirements. This will ensure that users can effortlessly access and interact with the provided information, thereby promoting greater engagement and support for ocean conservation efforts.
