User’s Persona 

User 1: Miss Cherry (Ocean Lover)  

Miss. Cherry, 30 years-old, is a dedicated data engineer whose love for the ocean was born out of an ocean foundation. Her life is filled with love for the ocean. Despite her busy day and night schedule, she actively seeks out opportunities to participate in ocean-related activities, primarily organized by The Sea Foundation. Her love for the ocean can be seen in her involvement in many activities such as beach cleanups, educational workshops and volunteering to protect the marine ecosystem. 

Her passion for the ocean was more than just enjoyment; Because of the increasingly serious ocean pollution, Miss Cherry realized that she must protect the ocean and promote ocean protection activities so that people all over the world can contribute to protecting the ocean. Ms. Cherry contributes to these efforts using her analytical skills as a data engineer, often assisting with data collection and analysis for conservation projects. Because this expertise and personal dedication gives her great satisfaction in protecting the ocean and solving problems such as ocean pollution, coral bleaching and the decline of marine species. Through her love for the ocean and active participation, Miss Cherry shows us that even if you are not a marine worker, you can play a role in protecting the ocean 

 

User 2: Miss Luna (Donator)  

Miss Luna, a 25-year-old data analyst who is living in Melaka. Miss Luna is a proud donor to The Ocean Foundation, an organization committed to protecting and restoring the world's oceans and coastal environments. She believes that the oceans are the lifeblood of our planet. With a strong passion for environmental conservation, particularly the well-being of our oceans, she dedicates her time and resources to making a positive impact on the planet. Through her support of The Ocean Foundation, she hopes to contribute to the ongoing efforts to preserve these vital ecosystems for future generations.  

When she’s not working with data, Miss Luna loves to browse The Ocean Foundation’s website to read the blog posts and newsletters. She finds these resources invaluable for gaining knowledge and information on ocean issues. However, she often finds herself feeling bored and struggling to understand content when there are too many words and complex information. Miss Luna seeks a user-experience-friendly system that increases the use of images, infographics, and multimedia elements to make the content more engaging and easier to understand. 

 

User 3: Miss Cassie (General Public) 

Miss Cassie is a 28-year-old single lady, and she works as a software engineer for Syntech Technology in Kuching, Sarawak. She likes scuba diving thus she will join the diving sessions at the Kuching Scuba Centre every weekend. She enjoys the process of diving as she can explore the amazing corals and marine creatures under the water. At the same time, she feels peace and can release her working stress during the dives. Therefore, she appreciates the ocean and its ecosystem that bring fun and relief for her. 

Influenced by her hobby and her appreciation for the ocean, she had deep concerns about the ocean condition after reading news about the ocean pollution, coral bleaching, and the decline of marine species. To improve her understanding of ocean, she always visits to the ocean conservation websites such as the Ocean Foundation website to read the articles and news about the latest ocean condition and the conservation practices undergone by the organization to prevent the ocean from getting worst. Besides, she will also become a volunteer to contribute to ocean conservation activities when she is available. 

Scenario 

Task 1- Communicate on the website 

Persona- Miss Cherry 

Task: Attempt to find a communication channel on the website 

Miss Cherry was interested and excited when she came across some amazing stuff on the Ocean Foundation's website one day. She can't wait to share her research and ideas with other ocean lovers. The idea made her navigate the search box in the hopes of finding a discussion board or forum where she could post her ideas and engage with similar-minded people.  

She was disappointed to see that there was no forum or other means of user communication on the website for people to express their opinions and feedback. Ms. Cherry wishes that the Ocean Foundation will think about introducing a forum or other similar platform so that users can share ideas and experiences, as well as promote a feeling of community and group efforts in the goal for ocean protection, in order to improve the user experience on this platform. 


Task 2- Reading the Website’s Content 

Persona: Miss Luna 

Task: Open the website, find an interesting topic then browse through it and start reading the content. 

Situation: After reading the website’s content, she feels bored. 

One afternoon, Miss Luna visits The Ocean Foundation’s website during her lunch break, she is eager to learn about the latest projects. She clicks on an article about coral reef restoration but quickly feels overwhelmed by the lengthy paragraphs and technical language. Despite her interest, the dense text makes it hard for her to stay focused and understand the material. 

Feeling frustrated and bored, Miss Luna wishes the website had more visuals, infographics, and videos to make the content easier to read and more engaging. She believes these enhancements would help her better understand and connect with the important work being done to protect the oceans. 

  

Task 3- Check Usage of Funds 

Persona: Miss Cassie  

Task: Check Usage of Funds 

One day, after Miss Cassie browse the Ocean Foundation website and read the latest news about the ocean condition and the project progress undergoes to conserve the ocean, she decided to contribute some effort for the conservation actions by donating some money to the Ocean Foundation organization. Before donating, she plans to check the usage of funds on the ocean conservation projects to ensure that the money really helps in these projects. 

Therefore, Miss Cassie opens the annual report and looks for the percentage of contribution of the funds on the projects done by the organization. However, she could not find detailed information about it. At the same time, she found that the Ocean Foundation organization has plenty of investments but no detailed description about the investments in the annual report. Miss Cassie feels the annual report is unclear and feels worried about making donations to the organization. 

In conclusion, Miss Cassie hopes that the organization can create a system that shortlists the spending of the funds on the projects along with some photos and videos that show the progress of the projects to the public.
